Community & disaster response
Supporting people and the communities they live in.
Trauma Aid responds after disasters, mass-casualty events, and collective trauma by partnering with local services and delivering structured, EMDR-informed group support.
What Trauma Aid can provide
We can help communities plan and deliver early stabilisation, psychoeducation, resourcing, and group EMDR-informed support. The model is designed for settings where many people have been affected and where the usual one-to-one therapy workforce cannot meet every need quickly.
How we work locally
Response is shaped around local leadership. We work with community organisations, health services, marae, schools, and trusted local connectors so the support offered fits the place, the people, and the moment.
Why group EMDR
Group protocols can provide a contained structure for processing distress without asking participants to describe traumatic events to the group. That makes the approach more scalable and often less exposing for participants.
